Daily Butoh: a green insect in a small frame of sun
This is a butoh photo-video experiment and a part of my daily butoh. On a sunny winter's day I was playing with sunlight in a sunbeam passing through the window, like a small green insect confused by that light frame separating light and shadow...death and life. This is my daily butoh dance of 2010 March 18th documenting part of my actual research. Thanks to Sayoko Onishi's inspiring workshops some kind of insect is growing close to my broken rib, and moving in a direction I cannot control. Sometimes I forget about the insect but it still keep on moving and tell its story, and I'm moved by this insect, while some strange images of my past and my dead come to my eyes. It's important and useful to save a document of this kind of experience. I've always used video as an instrument functional to my work in theatre and music. But in this case I'm sharing some of my video without so much filtering (only some aesthetical editing) because I think this helps to have an external (virtual) point of view on butoh experience. Daily butoh video sharing is an idea by "momo" (Maureen Freehill) whose work in developing butoh community is really great. Background music's name is Spettri.
